My memoir, True North: Seasons of Rose Hill Farm, is a story of the seasons, the work, the people, and a way of life soon becoming a thing of the past. I invite you to the world where I grew up, an Iowa farm in the 1950s and 1960s.

I became my family’s story keeper, inspired by a photo album and the realization that a “Kodak moment” was just that, a moment in time but not the whole story.

Commonplace memories can be anything but commonplace. They can hold great meaning, and I have found exploring an old photo album to be a springboard for stories worth preserving.

I hope my stories will encourage you to explore your own experiences.

From time to time, I’ll be sharing stories from the book, additional photographs, and reflections. What memories do they evoke for you? If you’d like to share, please send a comment, a memory, or ask a question. I’d love to hear from you.
